Looking at the Maduro No. 2, it's apparent that this is a cigar with solid construction. The wrapper is dark and oily. There are only a few minor veins that are visible, and the overall appearance is quite smooth. A simple band sits near the head that showcases the AVO logo, and its black, white, and brown colors blend in perfectly with the dark wrapper. The cigar is firm and has zero soft spots. Before lighting, there's a sweet aroma and a flavor of mild tobacco.

Once lit, the AVO Maduro No. 2 performs like a champ. The draw is easy, and the ash is long and gray in color. A good amount of smoke is produced. The burn stays even on its own from beginning to end, requiring no maintenance.

When it comes to the flavor of the Maduro No. 2, I'd call it consistent. The cigar begins with sweet and nutty flavors in the first third. The second third is characterized by cocoa and leather, which is by far the highlight. The final third wraps things up with more sweetness and leather.

Overall, the AVO Maduro No. 2 is not the most complex cigar around. That's okay, because it still remains enjoyable. The construction and burn were excellent, but the flavor could be seen as lacking enough variety. This is a good smoke for fans of Maduro cigars, or for anyone looking for something smooth and relaxing. Beginners might want to give it a look if they want to try a Maduro for the first time. Packed in boxes of 25 or packs of five, the Maduro No. 2 is priced at around $6 to $7 per single, depending on where you look. It's not the cheapest cigar you'll find, but it is a quality stick.

The AVO Maduro No. 2 earns a rating of 3.5 out of four stars.
