The Vegas Cubanas Generosos passes the eyeball test and appears to be a well-built cigar. This is no surprise considering it’s a Don Pepin selection. The wrapper is medium-brown in color and has a few minimal veins. Just a light sheen of oil is visible. The triple cap is done to perfection, and feeling the cigar lets me know that it is well-packed with tobacco. A colorful band sits near the head that displays the Vegas Cubanas and Don Pepin Garcia names. It also has a nice depiction of workers in a tobacco field. I’m ready to light this baby up, but before I do, I notice that it has an earthy scent and cold taste.
After lighting, the Vegas Cubanas Generosos burns without any issues. The draw is good and the burn is even from beginning to end. No touch-ups or re-lights are necessary. The solid white ash looks great. Overall, this is a maintenance-free cigar, and I have no complaints.
As advertised, the Vegas Cubanas Generosos is mild. That does not mean it is monotonous, however, as there is a terrific mix of flavors packed inside. The first third kicks off with a small bang thanks to some pepper. Earthiness is also detected. The second third changes things up by transitioning to a sweet, creamy, and chocolaty profile. The final third is more pepper and earth, plus some leather. Needless to say, there was not a dull moment.
Don Pepin Garcia’s reputation is definitely well-deserved, and the Vegas Cubanas is just another example of a superb smoke from under his watch. Superb construction, burn, and flavor are all a part of the package, which makes this a must-try. A single sells for around $6 to $7 each. You can also find it in packs of five or boxes of 25. Go ahead and pick up a box. You won’t be disappointed.
The Don Pepin Garcia Vegas Cubanas Generosos earns a rating of 3.75 out of four stars.
