The Romeo y Julieta Cabinet Seleccion has an attractive appearance and seems to have solid construction. The chocolate colored, oily wrapper is enticing. There are very few small veins that are noticeable. It also feels firm to the touch with no soft spots. One pleasing decorative band adorns the body. It sports a black, white, and gold color scheme and showcases the Romeo y Julieta name and the Cabinet Seleccion label. Prior to lighting, this Corona has an earthy cold taste and an aroma of rich coffee.
The burn of the Romeo y Julieta Cabinet Seleccion Corona is satisfactory. There are couple touch-ups necessary, but that's about it. The draw is also a tad tight. There is plenty of smoke during the hour of smoking time, and the ash is solid and gray in color.
The strength of the Cabinet Seleccion Corona is not overwhelming, but it is also not meant for beginners. The cigar begins with a decent kick of pepper that blends with earth for the first third. The pepper continues into the second third, but the cigar soon changes its tone and becomes creamy. Nuts are also detected. The final third is a mix of coffee, cream, and nuts. There's not a lot of complexity, but what is there is enjoyable.
Is the Romeo y Julieta Cabinet Seleccion the best cigar from the brand? Probably not. Then again, Romeo y Julieta has produced a ton of quality lines in the past, so that's not too much of a knock against the company. If you enjoy medium to full-bodied cigars and Cameroon wrappers, give the Cabinet Seleccion a try. As stated, only experienced smokers should try it, as the cigar is probably too strong for novices. The Cabinet Seleccion in boxes of 22 and packs of five, and a single sells for around $10. Is it truly worth that price? Probably not, but your mileage may vary.
