The Don Lino 1989 Maduro Robusto
For me, the year 1989 brings back memories on Guns-n-Roses, and the last stand of all those 1980’s glam-rock bands with the giant hair, who weren’t looking for nothing but a good time. How could you resist?
Thanks to the Don Lino 1989 Robusto, it brings back other pleasant memories as well. This cigar has a bold look to it, making it easily stand out in a crowd. Wearing a Nicaraguan wrapper that is nearly jet black, and super oily, this little fella is made up of more nations than the UN. The binder is out of Indonesia, while the long filler comes from a mix of Colombian, Mexican, and Nicaraguan tobaccos, while the cigar itself is produced in the Honduras. How is that for being multi-cultural?
As you can imagine from the countries on that list, it has a rich spiciness, a little hint of wood, and very fruit-filled undertones (think orange, cherry, a little grape maybe?), reminding me a little of Hawaiian Fruit Punch.
The draw on this one was a little tight for me as well, but opened up pretty quickly. A pinch test showed that it was very well constructed, and I think if you paired this with the right drink, it would make an excellent party cigar. Even talking about it now brings the taste back to my mouth, which I guess speaks for itself. My only complaint aside from the rough draw at the beginning would be that it might be a little too flavorful (hence the suggestion of pairing it with a drink to settle it down a little). But definitely worth more than a second glance.

Conclusion
We covered quite a few cigars in this one, and I hope you’ll give a few of them a shot. If you have already, or do in the future, drop me a line and let me know what your thoughts were. It is always interesting to get a second take.
In the meantime, keep reading, as we’ll be popping out some more reviews of cigars later in the weeks and months to come. Till then!
