Our reviews for today will take a closer look at the Punch Deluxe Royal Coronation Maduro and the Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial Limited Edition 2012.
Punch Deluxe Royal Coronation Maduro
The Punch Deluxe line was created in 1990 by Cuban cigar master Frank Llaneza. It was supposedly created with experienced cigar smokers in mind, and is said to pack both flavor and finesse through its complex blend of tobaccos. For this review, I will be giving the line’s Royal Coronation Maduro selection a try.
The Royal Coronation Maduro is just one of many offerings in the Punch Deluxe line. It measures 5 1/4 x 44. Other sizes range from the 5 3/4 x 45 Chateau M all the way up to the 7 1/4 x 54 Chateau L. The cigar's interior contains Honduran, Nicaraguan, and Dominican Piloto Cubano tobaccos. The binder is Connecticut Broadleaf, and so is the wrapper. It should be noted that Punch also offers the deluxe with an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper as well. The Deluxe Maduro’s strength is said to be full-bodied.
In terms of appearance, the Punch Deluxe Royal Coronation Maduro looks good. It's pretty thin, so if you prefer thicker ring gauges, look elsewhere. The oily wrapper has a nice dark chocolate color and is smooth for the most part. There are only a few small veins that are present, but no major imperfections. The cigar feels firm to the touch with no soft spots. A nice red, gold, and white band adds an elegant touch to the cigar's look. Prior to lighting, there is a nutty cold taste and a woody aroma.
The Royal Coronation Maduro continues to impress once it is finally lit. The draw is just right. Attractive gray ash is produced that is solid and keeps my clothes clean. The burn is very even and requires no touch-ups or re-lights. Plenty of smoke fills the air.
