Moving on to my favorite part, the flavor, the Punch Pita EMS starts off with a mix of cedar, pepper, and sweetness in the first third.  The pepper picks up a bit in the second third, and I notice more sweetness and nuts at this point in the experience.  The final third is a blend of spice, wood, and cedar.

While I was not blown away by the Punch Pita EMS Toro, I would be lying if I said it was not a good cigar.  The construction and flavor were solid, but unspectacular.  It is a smooth cigar overall with just enough kick to satisfy those experienced smokers.  At around $4 per single, this is a good value.  You may want to pick up a box of 15 or 25 to keep around for your golf outings or if you want something to take the edge off after dinner.

The Punch Pita EMS Toro earns a rating of 3.5 out of four stars.

VegaFina Master 2012 Robusto

While the previously reviewed Punch Pita was an older release from tobacco giant General Cigar, the VegaFina Master 2012 is a more recent release from another big name in the industry, Altadis USA.  This creamy and smooth selection was developed by the Grupo de Maestros, a special unit of cigar makers from Altadis.  As such, it is a limited line, with only 50,000 cigars made.  I like what I’ve heard about the Master 2012 so far, but does it deliver?  My expectations are high, so let’s see if they are met.

The VegaFina Master 2012 Robusto measures 5 x 52.  It’s the only format or size in the line.  Produced by Altadis at the Tabacalera de Garcia factory in the Dominican Republic, the Master 2012 has quite the composition.  Its filler is a blend of tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Colombia.  An Indonesian binder comes next, and an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper completes the cigar.  As mentioned, this is supposedly a smooth cigar, and it is listed in the medium-bodied category of strength.
