The Lost City line of cigars from Fuente is one that has its roots in Hollywood. Actor and Director Andy Garcia was filming his movie “The Lost City” back in 2004 in the Dominican Republic. This particular film was a long time in the making, as Garcia had been planning on putting it into action for over 16 years. The Lost City has a script that blends with cigars nicely, since it follows a Cuban family during the Castro revolution and all the hardships that plagued such residents of the island nation at that time.

You could say that the birth of the Lost City line came about by accident, and a fortunate one at that. Longtime cigar maker Carlito Fuente decided to collaborate with Garcia to lend a helping hand to complete his film. Mr. Fuente was a big help in completing one particular scene in the film where some of the characters are on a tobacco farm that Castro plan's to take over. Garcia wanted to replicate the look and aura of an authentic Cuban tobacco farm from that time period, and as he looked for locations, he was referred to Carlito Fuente.

Fuente offered his own Chateau de la Fuente farm in the Dominican Republic as the scene's backdrop, but there was one problem. The farm was being harvested, and Garcia wanted to have actual tobacco in the shoot. Fuente offered to grow tobacco that would be three feet high for filming purposes, and it all ended up working out in the end.

Garcia was not finished, however, and he asked Fuente if he could use the tobacco for a special edition of cigars. These Lost City cigars would not only carry some of the movie's them with them, but they would also be used to benefit the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation in the Dominican Republic. So, what began as Andy Garcia looking for a farm to film eventually progressed into a new line of cigars being released from Fuente for cigar enthusiasts to enjoy.
