So far, the Lost City is good to go in terms of appearance and its burn characteristics. When it comes to flavor, however, it tends to disappoint. The disappointment comes in the lack of complexity. Right from the start there is plenty of spicy pepper. It later transitions into some rich wood flavors. There is also a tad of leather that makes an appearance. As the cigar progresses, it definitely picks up in strength and becomes overwhelming at times. It seems as if it falls more into the full-bodied category as opposed to being medium-bodied.
The Lost City Lancero is not a bad cigar by any means. It's also not an overwhelmingly memorable one, which is disappointing considering how good it looked. Perhaps its good looks and impeccable construction had me yearning for something more. Its appearance and burn were very good, but the flavor seemed one-dimensional and too spicy. This is one cigar that you should definitely not have on an empty stomach. It's also a cigar that is meant for full-bodied fans and experienced smokers. Beginners should find something milder to suit their tastes. Another aspect of the Lost City that may deter some smokers is its price. A single goes for around $30, which is quite expensive. At that price, it's probably way out of many smokers' budgets as a frequent cigar. If you really love Fuente cigars and want to give it a try, maybe it's worth a purchase for a special occasion. Hopefully you will get better results out of it. If you feel like splurging, you can also find the Lost City in stylish boxes of ten.
The Fuente Fuente OpusX The Lost City Lancero earns a rating of three out of four stars.
