When first looking at the No. 45, it's dark Maduro color is most noticeable. It is also quite oily when viewed under light. There are some veins present, and patting it down reveals that it is well-packed with tobacco. There are two decorative bands that adorn the cigar's body. The band near the head has the Padron name in classy font. The band below it is small and displays how the cigar was made to celebrate the brand's anniversary. Both bands are gold and red in color and add a nice aesthetic touch. Before lighting, there is a spicy scent and cold taste given off.
After reading up on all the praise the No. 45 received, a solid smoke is expected. Luckily, that notion comes true as there are virtually no negative issues to contend with. The burn is even, the draw is easy, and solid white ash is formed. Re-lights and touch-ups are not necessary.

The flavors experienced are quite pleasant and tempting. The smoke begins with a spicy flavor. Later, there is some coffee that is noticeable. Other flavors of note are wood and a bit of a sweet taste. While different, all of the flavors seem to flow well with one another.
The Family Reserve No. 45 is a cigar that is worth all of its praise. Its construction is excellent, as is the burn and flavor. Full-bodied fans should definitely try to pick up a single. As you might expect, considering the quality ingredients and heavy press the No. 45 has received, it is pretty expensive. It comes in boxes of 10 and goes for around $25 each. While definitely costly, you should try one for a very special occasion to see what all the rave is about.
The Padron Family Reserve No. 45 Maduro Toro earns a rating of 3.5 out of 4 stars.
