ratings and scores

There is plenty of flavor packed into this stick, and its complexity is a joy to experience. It is an extremely powerful smoke, but it also has some smoothness to it that create a great combination for the senses. Earth, cocoa, and spice are the first flavors that are noticeable. Some cedar as well as wood also jump into the profile. A little bit of sweetness really balances everything out.

Simply put, the Corojo Monarca is an excellent cigar. If you judged a book by its cover, you would not expect much out of this one, but it is a real surprise, and it definitely lives up to its high ratings. The burn is great, and the flavors are even better. This is a sure-fire cigar to recommend for those who love full-bodied smokes. You should definitely have a meal beforehand, though, as this is a stogie that can definitely knock you off your feet. Beginners need to look elsewhere; this is not the cigar for them. A single averages out to around $5 to $6 each. Not bad considering the quality of the cigar and the complexity you get. The Monarca is good enough to warrant a bulk purchase, and you can find them in boxes of 25 or smaller packs of 5.

The Camacho Corojo Monarca is a hit and earns a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.

Gurkha Avenger G5 Torpedo

The Avenger G5 Torpedo measures 6 x 52. The G5 line comes in just one other size: the 6 x 50 Toro. The G5 is a Nicaraguan puro, with its filler, binder, and wrapper all being composed of tobaccos from the Central American nation. This line is aimed more at seasoned smokers, and is said to be full-bodied.

As one would come to expect with a Gurkha selection, the G5 Avenger Torpedo is a highly attractive cigar. Its wrapper is very dark and has a bit of an oily sheen. There are a few veins that are present, but the construction overall seems to be impeccable. A classy band near the head boasts a black and gold color scheme that exude an aura of exclusivity. The band displays G5 in large font and has a pinstripe pattern. The cigar appears to be very firm to the touch. It has a cold taste of tobacco and a scent of spice.
