Once in action, the Avenger Torpedo burns without any issues. The burn stays even on its own, and the draw is good. The solid white ash that is produced looks great against the cigar's dark wrapper. The lighter can take a rest here, as there is no need for touch-ups or re-lighting.

The flavors of the G5 are quite good and enjoyable. It has a tobacco flavor from the start, and there is also a rich taste of coffee. Dark chocolate joins the mix, as does a bit of caramel that is really pleasing. A sweet note seems to pop in periodically as well. This cigar is surprisingly smooth, and seems to lean more towards medium-bodied despite its claim to being a full-bodied smoke.
The G5 Avenger is yet another great cigar from Gurkha. It is high quality all around. The construction is superb, and so is the burn. The flavors are also varied enough to keep things interesting. The G5 may be a bit strong for beginners. Those who enjoy strong, yet smooth stogies will likely enjoy it, however. Since it is a Gurkha, you can expect a higher price tag to go along with its quality. A single costs around $10 each. That could be too much for some fans, but it is at least worth a try for a special day. Boxes of 20 are also available, and in typical Gurkha style, they are amazing to look at and a nice collector's item.
The Gurkha G5 Avenger Torpedo earns a solid rating of 3.5 out of 4 stars.
