It's Monday here on Puff.com. To help you get through the start of the week, we have two new reviews. Today's reviews have a Davidoff theme, and we will discuss the brand's Aniversario No. 2 and the Grand Cru No. 4.
Davidoff Aniversario No. 2
The Davidoff Aniversario line was released to commemorate the 80th birthday of the brand's founder, Zino Davidoff. The Aniversario is quite pricey and aimed more at those who enjoy smoother cigars. Let's light one up and find out if this cigar is worth its hefty price tag.
The Aniversario No. 2 measures 7 x 48. Davidoff also offers the line in two other sizes: the large 8 2/3 x 48 No. 1 and the 6 x 50 No. 3. The cigar's filler and binder are both composed of tobacco from the Dominican Republic. Its wrapper, meanwhile, is Connecticut Shade. The Aniversario No. 2 is handmade in the Dominican Republic and is said to fall in between the categories of mild and medium-bodied.
At first glance, the length of the Aniversario No. 2 is its most striking physical aspect. Its creamy brown wrapper is inviting, and the cigar has a really silky appearance. This is not a flashy cigar by any means, and it follows the simplistic look that Davidoff usually provides. There are a few minimal veins that are present and the wrapper has a slightly oily sheen. The No. 2 appears to be well-packed with tobacco and is firm to the touch. A simple band sits near the head that showcases the Davidoff name over a gold and white color scheme. Prior to lighting, the cigar has a very faint scent and cold taste of cocoa.
When you smoke a Davidoff, you expect a quality burn, and the Aniversario No. 2 delivers in that department. The burn is even for most of the cigar, and just a few touch-ups are needed. The cigar produces solid white ash as well. The draw is good and is not too tight.
