Famous 70th Anniversary Padron Natural
As if one could not tell by its name, the Famous 70th Anniversary Padron Natural is a special cigar. The cigar was made by Padron for the large retailer known as the Famous Smoke Shop as a way of celebrating the shop's 70th Anniversary in 2009. The cigar is produced on a limited basis and is even more special when you consider that it is the first cigar made by Padron to be released to just one customer.
The Famous 70th Anniversary Padron measures 5 x 50 in its Robusto size, which is the only size currently offered from the line. The cigar is made completely from Nicaraguan tobaccos which have been aged for four years. The filler and binder are both Nicaraguan, as is the wrapper. The wrapper comes in either a Natural or a Maduro form. The cigar is box pressed and handmade in Nicaragua. As for its strength, it is considered to be full-bodied.
The cigar itself has a medium-brown color thanks to its Natural wrapper and is lighter than its Maduro counterpart from the line. Overall, it is a nice smoke to look at. Some large veins are visible and so is a bit of oil on the wrapper when the cigar is put under light. There are two bands near the head that greatly spruce up the 70th Anniversary Padron Natural's appearance. The top band is large and features the Famous name along with a Private Selection label to let you know that you are holding a special stick. The band right below it is red and gold in color and features the Padron Anniversary Series label on it. Giving the cigar a quick feel it seems to be well-packed. It also has an earthy scent and a cold taste similar to coffee.
The burn of the 70th Anniversary Padron Natural is even for the most part. The draw is great. The ash produced is solid and light in color. No re-lighting is necessary, although the occasional touch-up is needed.
