The Grand Reserve Robusto has a nearly impeccable construction, and it stays true to that during the burn. The draw is good, and light-colored ash steers away from any flakiness. The burn is even and does not require any touch-ups at all. The cigar also manages to stay lit on its own without any help.

The flavors are very pleasant and never approach the level of being overpowering. Right from the start you get plenty of that sweet cognac flavor. There is also a lot of creaminess to the smoke. Some wood makes an appearance, as does some pepper. There's plenty of flavor, which is always a nice surprise.

The Grand Reserve Robusto is definitely enjoyable, although it may not be the cigar for some due to its flavor infusion. If you dislike flavored cigars, or hate cognac, this is not the cigar for you. If the opposite is true, however, you will likely become a fan. The packaging, construction, burn, and flavors all pass the test. It's a good selection for fans of smooth, medium-bodied cigars, and probably makes a good smoke to have with your morning cup of coffee. A single costs around $12 to $13. This is not cheap, but, then again, neither are most Gurkhas. You can also find it in packs of five or bundles of 30. If you splurge and go for the bundle, the price per cigar drops significantly. Then again, you may find that the cognac flavor gets old after a while. Regardless, if you do like cognac, its worth at least trying a single.

The Gurkha Grand Reserve Robusto earns a rating of three out of four stars.

Tatuaje The Face

tatfacepic1

The Face is the third Halloween-themed release from Pete Johnson at Tatuaje. It continues his annual tradition of releasing horror-based cigars and follows its two predecessors in the Monster Series Line: the Frank and the Drac. The Face is based on Leatherface, a character from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre film. The Face was released on a limited scale on October 13 of this year. Only 13 Tatuaje retailers were selected to distribute the cigar in 666 boxes of 13 plus, and 130 retailers were selected to distribute 1,300 boxes of ten.

The Face comes in a 6 3/8 x 56 size, which is the only size available. Johnson chose the 6 3/8 length since the man who played Leatherface in the film was 6 feet 4 inches tall. The 56 ring gauge was chosen because the actor was also rather thick. The cigar has a Mexican San Andreas wrapper taken from the lower primings of the plant. Its interior is made up of a Nicaraguan filler and binder. The Face was created to exude strength, and it is categorized as being full-bodied.
