The first thing that is noticed when looking at the Cabinet Selection #2 is its wrapper. It is very smooth and inviting with its creamy brown color. There are very few veins that are evident. Patting the cigar down reveals some firmness and it does not have too much give. The decorative band near the head has a regal appearance, and it features the Ashton and Cabinet Selection labels. Adding to the decoration is a logo of two dragons and a crown, with nice color accents in gold, white, black, and red. Before lighting it up, the cigar has a cold taste and scent that are slightly spicy.

After striking the Cabinet Selection #2 with a lighter, the cigar burns well. It does require the occasional touch-up, but re-lighting is not needed. The draw is good and the burn stays on course for the majority of the smoke. The cigar also produces some long gray ash.
This is one stick that is definitely smooth in the flavor department, although not too varied. The most prominent flavors are of leather and spice. A good amount of cream hits the mix as well, and there is a slight tinge of coffee that is detected too. The #2 does reflect its mild-bodied classification properly.
The Cabinet Selection #2 is a quality smoke. The wrapper is almost flawless, and the cigar does burn well. The flavors are also very smooth. That said, some may find this cigar to be too bland and not interesting enough to their senses. When you consider that a single goes for around $13 to $14, this becomes even more true. The cigar just does not seem to stand out enough to warrant its price. It is definitely made with quality and contains aged ingredients, but the final result is nothing exceptional. If you do enjoy smooth cigars, however, and want to give one a try, go for it. You can also find it in boxes of 20.
Although the Ashton Cabinet Selection #2 is a quality stick, its higher price and semi-dull flavors earn it a rating of 2.5 out of 4 stars.
