At first glance, the Green Label Torpedo is a nice looking stick. The wrapper is light brown in color and some large veins run prominently through the cigar. Not much of an oily sheen is visible under light, and patting it down reveals that it's a bit soft in some areas. A large band near the head stands out with its rich green color and gold border. The Don Kiki name on the band is in an interesting regal font. A quick whiff of the cigar prior to lighting gives off a sweet scent and the cold taste is of an earthy variety.
After striking the Green Label Torpedo with a match, some problems occur. The burn is uneven. The cigar also goes out quite a bit, creating the need to have a lighter handy at all times. On the bright side, the draw is good and some solid ash is produced.
The flavors of the cigar are on the smoother side of things. A good amount of creamy and nutty flavors are evident. There is also a sweet flavor that reminds me of citrus and oranges. Some leather and wood also makes an appearance, and there are some hints of coffee too. This stick is definitely medium-bodied.
The Don Kiki Green Label Torpedo has its good and its bad. The bad is obviously the burn, which required re-lighting and was uneven. The good is the variety of flavors in the cigar. That said, you get what you pay for, as the Green Label Torpedo goes for around $2 per stick. That is quite affordable and leaves not too much room for complaints. I would say that full-bodied fans should definitely shy away from it, as it is very mild. Beginning smokers will find it as a good start, as well as those who prefer mildness. The cigar is at least worth a try, even if you are just looking for something different to smoke, as its price won't leave you bankrupt.
The Don Kiki Green Label Torpedo earns a rating of 2.5 out of four stars.
