larelobasum Hopefully you are up for some more reviews, because today we have two excellent cigars to share. We'll kick things off with the flavorful and affordable La Reloba Sumatra Robusto. Completing the pair of reviews will be the limited and expensive La Aurora Puro Vintage 2003 Salomon.

La Reloba Sumatra Robusto

The La Reloba line is a fairly recent release from My Father Cigar Co. The company, run by the Garcia family and headed by the renowned Don Pepin, released the La Reloba this spring in two different varieties. In order to make the line accessible to varying members of the cigar public, the Garcias set a price point on the La Reloba that is very wallet-friendly.

The La Reloba Sumatra measures 5 x 50 in its Robusto format. Other offerings in the line include: the 5 5/8x 46 Corona, the 6 1/8x 52 Torpedo, and the 6 1/4x 52 Toro. The cigar is a Nicaraguan puro. Its filler and binder are both composed of Nicaraguan tobacco, while the wrapper is also Nicaraguan but of the Sumatra variety. The La Reloba also comes in a variation that is coated with a Habano wrapper. In terms of strength, the Sumatra is said to be medium-bodied.

The cigar is attractive mostly due to the large band near its head. The band has a fancy gold, black, and yellow color scheme that would trick one into thinking that this is a rather pricy stick. The band features the La Reloba name in gold cursive font, with Seleccion Sumatra printed towards the bottom. The band's large size is a definite call for attention. The cigar itself has a medium-brown color and plenty of oil on its surface. It does have quite a few veins that are visible. It feels smooth to the touch without many lumps, and it appears to be packed well. Before lighting, its scent is of tobacco. Its cold taste, meanwhile, is reminiscent of pepper.
