ratings and scores

Like its burn, the flavors of this cigar are quite good and very enjoyable. Off the bat there is some spice that hits you, as well as some earth. Some wood and leather are also noticeable. A rich dark chocolate flavor comes into the mix that is very pleasing. There is also a good bit of sweetness that makes an appearance. This is one stick that is packed with flavor.

There is really not much one can complain about when it comes to the Reserva Negra Robusto. The cigar looks classy, and its burn is tough to beat. The flavors are very good and varied. Those who enjoy a smooth cigar that is not too overpowering should definitely give the Reserva Negra Robusto a look. Maduro fans might like it as well. The cigar is far from cheap, at around $8 to $10 per single, depending on where you shop. This is one case where the saying that you get what you pay for holds true, however. It also comes in boxes of 20, or you can get a sampler pack of five that comes with the five different sizes that the line offers.

For its great construction, burn, and flavor, the Montecristo Reserva Negra Robusto earns a rating of 3.5 out of 4 stars.

Arturo Fuente Opus X Petit Lancero

Many cigar smokers will recognize the Opus X name. It is one of the rarest and most desired cigars on the market. With rave reviews out the wazoo, many have placed this cigar on their must-have list. Is it as good as advertised? Let's light a Petit Lancero up and see.

The Opus X Petit Lancero measures 6.2 x 39. The line offers the cigar in several other sizes as well to suit almost anyone's needs: the 4.3 x 40 Pussycats, the 4.6 x 48 XXX, the 4.7 x 56 Magnum, the 4.8 x 40 Perfecxion No. 5, the 5.1 x 42 Perfecxion No. 4, the 5.2 x 50 Robusto, the 5.5 x 52 Super Belicoso, the 5.6 x 46 Fuente Fuente, the 6.2 x 48 Perfecxion X, the 6.8 x 52 Perfecxion No. 2, the 7 x 48 Reserva D'Chateau, the 7.6 x 49 Double Corona, the humongous 9.2 x 47 A, and more. The Petit Lancero is a Dominican puro made completely from tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic. The filler and binder are Dominican, and the wrapper is a special Dominican Rosado leaf that is grown on Fuente's Chateau de La Fuente plantation in the Dominican Republic. Opus X cigars are considered to be full-bodied in strength.

The Opus X Petit Lancero is one smooth and svelte looking cigar. The wrapper is a bit dark and oily, yet extremely smooth and free of imperfections, other than a few small veins. The cigar feels fairly firm to the touch, and it has a pre-light scent and taste of tobacco. The large band near the head is quite ornate, with gold and red colors and a large X in dominating the landscape. The band itself gives off an aura of mystery and that you are about to smoke something special.
