nestor1989 Welcome back to another edition of cigar reviews on Puff.com. Today we have a couple of cigars that differ in price range. To kick things off, we will review the affordable Nestor Miranda 1989 Oscuro Belicoso. It will be followed by a review of the pricy Davidoff Millennium Lancero.

Nestor Miranda 1989 Oscuro Belicoso

The 1989 Oscuro line from Nestor Miranda was created to commemorate the year that Miami Cigar Co. was founded. Miami Cigar is behind the distribution of other cigar brands such as Don Lino, La Aurora, and more. The line's main selling point is its affordable price, which is a definite plus considering the current economy.

The 1989 Oscuro Belicoso measures 6 1/8x 52. The Belicoso is not the only size in the line, however, as the following vitolas are also offered: the 5 x 50 Robusto and the 6 x 50 Toro. The cigar's filler is a combination of tobaccos from the Nicaragua's fertile Esteli and Jalapa regions. The binder is Nicaraguan as well, as is the wrapper. While the wrapper on this stick is of the Oscuro variety, the line can also be found with a Rosado wrapper. Created as a cigar that will not overpower too many smokers, the 1989 Oscuro Belicoso is considered to be medium-bodied.

The appearance of the Oscuro Belicoso is not too impressive, although some may not find that to be all that important. Its Oscuro wrapper has a dark brown color, which is no surprise when you consider that the term “oscuro” translates to dark in English. The cigar has a good amount of oil on its exterior, and there are many large veins that are visible. It is also soft to the touch and does not appear to be well-packed with tobacco. There are some soft spots and it is more bumpy than smooth. The large decorative band near the head is does spruce up its look. The band features an ornate design with 1989 in large gold letters. The band has a festive look which is appropriate since the cigar was released to celebrate the year that Miami Cigar Co. was founded, as mentioned earlier. Before lighting, the Oscuro Belicoso has an earthy scent and cold taste.
