The Rocky Patel 1961 Toro is a good looking cigar. The wrapper is dark brown and is smooth, with the exception of a few veins. The band near the head shows a tobacco plant, roots and all, as well as the year 1961 in large font. The band's white, black, and red colors look good in contrast with the cigar's dark wrapper. Despite being dark, though, its hard to see much oil on the wrapper's surface. Feeling the cigar lets you know that it is very well packed, as it is very firm to the touch. There is a sweet cold taste and an earthy scent present prior to lighting.

Once lit, the 1961 Toro burns nicely. Touch-ups are hardly necessary thanks to its even burn. It also stays lit throughout. The ash is long and light in color, and the draw is good.

The flavors provided by the 1961 Toro keep the palate entertained. At first, there is a sweet flavor, similar to the cold taste. There is also a bit of wood, and some savory chocolate. To make things bolder, there is some peppery spice that comes into the equation. Some hints of nuts are evident, and there is also a sweet and fruity flavor that resembles cherry. Overall, it seems like a good combination of flavors, and the cigar is not too mild and not too strong.

It is hard to find something to complain about when it comes to the Rocky Patel 1961 Toro. The cigar is constructed well, as evidenced by its burn. Its flavors are also varied enough to keep one from getting bored or tired of the stick. I am not sure I would recommend it to beginners, as it is probably too strong. More experienced smokers will likely enjoy it though, as it sits well right between the medium and full-bodied strengths. Price-wise, the 1961 Toro goes for around $7-8 per single, based on prices for boxes of 20. It also comes in packs of five. That price may be high for some, but it is a quality stick and a pretty good value.

The Rocky Patel 1961 Toro earns a respectable rating of three out of four stars.

That's enough puffing for me today. I hope you enjoyed these two reviews and come back for more...
