Once it is lit, the Signature Lonsdale passes the burn test. The draw is good, and the cigar produces light-colored ash that is solid. There are no issues in terms of being uneven, nor does the cigar tend to die and need attention from the lighter.
The flavor department is where everything seems to disappoint. The flavors themselves are fine, but there is hardly any complexity or variety. In a word, the cigar is boring. It starts off with a tobacco flavor similar to the one found in the cold taste. This shifts into some woody notes, and there is also a tad of sweetness that makes an appearance. That is it. There is not much to keep one intrigued while smoking, and it actually seems to lull the senses to sleep.
The AVO Signature Lonsdale is a mixed bag. Is it a quality cigar? Sure. The construction is excellent and burn issues are non-existent. Flavor-wise, however, it just does not seem to deliver. A single goes for around $10 to $12 each, and boxes of 20 and packs of 5 are also available. At that price, there are simply too many other alternatives to try out. That being said, if you are a fan of AVO sticks and want to give it a shot, feel free. I'd suggest trying it on a single basis, however, because if you get a box you might find yourself becoming bored with them.
The AVO Signature Lonsdale is a quality smoke but its lack of flavors earns it a rating of 2 out of 4 stars.
