rockyvalpic1 It's Friday and the weekend is finally upon us. To kick off your weekend, here are two new reviews of a couple of sticks that you may want to add to your collection. Let's take a glance at the Rocky Patel Valedor Robusto and the Gurkha Assassin Toro.

Rocky Patel Valedor Robusto

Rocky Patel's Valedor line was created exclusively for the National Rifle Association. Considering the fact that its the first official cigar of the NRA, the Valedor has quite a bit of pressure on it to deliver to fans of cigars and firearms alike. In case you were wondering, the term Valedor is Spanish for a person who protects others. That seems to fit as a moniker for a cigar that represents the NRA.

The Valedor's Robusto vitola measures 5 x 50. The Valedor comes in two other shapes as well: the 6 x 52 Toro and the x 52 Torpedo. The cigar's filler is composed of tobaccos from Honduras and Nicaragua. Its binder is Nicaraguan and the Valedor is completed by an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. In terms of strength, the Valedor is said to fit in somewhere between the medium and full-bodied categories.

The Valedor's appearance is impressive and easy on the eyes. Its Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper has a reddish tint and an oily sheen when viewed under direct light. The cigar appears smooth overall but it does have a few small veins running throughout its body. There are two decorative bands that add flash to the Valedor's look. The top band near the head is quite large. It has a white, red, gray, and black color scheme and displays the Valedor name and has the National Rifle Association stamped on it. The NRA's logo is also stamped on the band's sides. The smaller band in the middle of the cigar shows the Rocky Patel brand name in gold and red. The Valedor seems to be well-packed with tobacco and is firm to the touch. Like many Rocky Patel offerings, the Valedor has solid construction. Before lighting, its aroma and taste are both sweet.
