The Late Harvest 648 is a good looking cigar with an inviting appearance. The wrapper is chocolate brown in color with a slight reddish tint, and it has a bit of oil that is visible under direct light. There are only a few medium veins that are noticeable. No major flaws are present. An eye-catching decorative band sits near the head. It displays the Viaje name and logo over a beige, green, and gold color scheme. The cigar's overall construction is excellent. Feeling the LH 648 reveals that it is well-packed with tobacco. There are zero soft spots. As for the final pre-light characteristics, the Late Harvest offers a cold taste of tasty chocolate and a spicy aroma.

Once lit, the Viaje Late Harvest burns like a charm. The draw is superb, and there is ample smoke throughout the slow burn that lasts well over an hour. The ash is very long and gray in color. The burn never strays and stays even from beginning to end. Touch-ups and re-lights are not necessary, which is always a plus in my book, as this allows me to concentrate on the cigar’s flavors.

One simple word to describe the Viaje Late Harvest LH 648 would be flavorful. It seems as if there is never a dull moment, and the cigar offers nice doses of complexity. The familiar spicy flavor is noticeable right off the bat. Further into the first third comes some chocolate, leather, and wood comes to offer a changeup. The cigar's strength kicks up a notch in the second third with stronger spice and some more chocolate and leather. The pepper maintains a nice level of strength until the final third, which is marked by a lot of creaminess as well. The LH 648 is not overly strong, but it provides enough of a punch to keep you on your toes.

It's not much of a surprise that the Viaje Late Harvest is a solid cigar. The brand has made a name for itself with other quality offerings, and the LH 648 is no different. The cigar's construction and burn are top-notch, and its flavor is even better. Experienced smokers are likely to enjoy this stogie due to its perfect mix of strength and flavor. It’s priced at around $9 per single and comes in boxes of 35. Production is very limited, however, so do not hesitate to try one for yourself.

The Viaje Late Harvest LH 648 earns a very solid rating of 3.75 out of four stars.
