Looking at the CLE Connecticut Robusto, I wouldn’t call it a flashy cigar. It does look good though. The light brown wrapper has some oil and only a few very small veins. The appearance is smooth and I can tell that the cigar is well-packed with tobacco after giving it a feel. The simple decorative band showcases the CLE Connecticut name and the year 2012. The silver and pink color scheme on the band is different, but works well here. Before lighting I get a scent of cedar and a cold taste that is mildly spicy.
When smoking the CLE Connecticut Robusto, there are zero negative issues to report when it comes to the cigar’s burn. The draw is excellent and plenty of thick smoke is produced. The burn is even and the gray ash is firm. Zero touch-ups or re-lights are needed throughout the smoking experience.
There is plenty of complexity to be enjoyed from the CLE Connecticut Robusto. The cigar kicks off with some pepper. Cedar and creaminess are also found in the first third. The second third continues its mini pepper kick and remains creamy. Citrus and nuts join in to make it an interesting blend of flavors at the midway point, to say the least. The final third is a mix of cream, citrus, wood, and nuts. This is a smooth cigar with a ton of flavor.
While I may not be familiar with the CLE brand, I certainly will keep an eye on it from now on. The CLE Connecticut offered solid construction, a good burn, and great flavor. A single sells for about $6, and you can also find the CLE Connecticut in packs of five or boxes of 25. Pick up a five-pack to keep handy for a relaxing afternoon smoke. This is a solid cigar for beginners or experienced smokers seeking something smooth, yet tasty.
The CLE Connecticut Robusto earns a rating of 3.75 out of four stars.
