When it comes to the Angelenos Robusto’s appearance, I can certainly say that it’s a looker. It does have somewhat of a Los Angeles aura to it, and for some reason looking at the cigar reminded me of the movie Swingers, which took place in LA. The black band is quite classy and features the Angelenos name and the year 2009 in small print and a large silver A in the middle. The cigar itself has a beautiful golden wrapper that looks silky smooth. Some oil is present and only a few very minor veins are visible. The pre-light flavor is sweet, while the aroma is of wood.
The burn of the Angelenos Robusto is as smooth as one could expect. The cigar features an excellent draw and produces a bevy of thick smoke. The burn is razor sharp from beginning to end and requires no touch-ups or re-lights. The light-colored ash is solid.
The flavor profile of the Angelenos Robusto commences with a sweet and woody first third. The second third continues with the sweet and woody notes, but also introduces nuts and some spice. The final third shifts gears with some saltiness and a grassy flavor, as well as more sweet notes for a smooth ending.
The Angelenos Robusto was definitely an enjoyable cigar that offered up some interesting flavor transitions. It was smooth, but not dull, and its construction was superb. A single retails for $9.50, so I wouldn’t pick this as an everyday smoke. I would, however, smoke one every other weekend or so for a relaxing experience. You can also find the Angelenos in boxes of 25.
The Angelenos Robusto earns a strong rating of 3.5 out of four stars for its construction and variety of flavors.
