While the burn of the Freedom Robusto is certainly impressive, the cigar’s flavor is where it really shines.  The Freedom begins with a tasty first third that offers up sweetness, cocoa, and nuts.  Some spice and wood come into play in the second third and mix in with the cocoa.  I also notice some espresso here.  The final third caps off the great experience with sweetness, wood, cocoa, and earth.  The cigar may not have much of a kick, but it sure does have a ton of flavor.

The Rocky Patel Freedom Robusto is another example of why I keep buying Rocky Patel cigars.  It delivered in all aspects – appearance, burn, and flavor.  I could see it as a great after dinner smoke, but its profile does make it a viable smoking alternative during any time of the day.  A Robusto retails for $7.50, and you can find it in packs of five or boxes of 20.  I’ll go ahead and eliminated the mystery for you – pick up a box of the Freedom.  I seriously doubt that you will regret it.

The Rocky Patel Freedom Robusto earns a rating of four out of four stars.

Asylum 13 Sixty

Asylum Cigars is a brand founded by Tom Lazuka and Christian Eiroa.  The goal of the brand is to offer cigars that are diverse in terms of their flavor profiles to appeal to varying cigar audiences.  Asylum also aims to deliver cigars that exude quality, but are affordable at the same time.  There are three lines under the Asylum umbrella – the Asylum, Asylum 13, and the Schizo.  For this review, I will be tackling the Asylum 13.

The Asylum 13 Sixty is a burly cigar that measures 6 x 60.  There are two other sizes in the line: the 5 x 50 Robusto and the 7 x 70 Seventy.  Wow, get a look at the dimensions of the Seventy!  Sorry, that’s too bold for me.  Anyway, as for the composition of the Asylum 13, it is a Nicaraguan puro.  In other words, its filler, binder, and wrapper are all made from Nicaraguan tobaccos.  Produced in Honduras at the Tabacos Rancho Jamastran factory, the Asylum 13 is considered to be a full-bodied stick.
