Moving on to the flavor of the Rocky Patel Nording 50th Anniversary, I definitely must say that it is as tasty as advertised. The first third kicks off with spice that is joined by some sweet notes and coffee. The second third remains sweet, and I also detect some cinnamon and chocolate. The final third offers up wood, nuts, and coffee once again. This is not a mild smoke, nor is it a powerhouse. I’d call it medium to full-bodied.
The Rocky Patel Nording 50th Anniversary impressed me, although I was not surprised. I have enjoyed many Patel smokes in the past, so this just continued that tradition of quality smoking experiences supplied by the brand. This is a good cigar for experienced and even beginning smokers seeking something flavorful. It’s not too strong and not too weak – it’s just right. A single retails for $8.50. You can also find it in packs of five or boxes of 20. The Rocky Patel Nording 50th Anniversary is not cheap by any means, but it is worth its price tag if you want a solid cigar on a special occasion.
The Rocky Patel Nording 50th Anniversary earns a rating of 3.75 out of four stars.
La Sirena Merlion Robusto

The Merlion by La Sirena is a line produced by La Aurora at the oldest cigar factory in the Dominican Republic. Miami Cigar & Company is in charge of its distribution. Said to be smooth and complex, I must say that I am very intrigued by the Merlion. To see what this line has to offer, I will by smoking one of its Robusto offerings.
The La Sirena Merlion Robusto measures 5 x 50. There are two other sizes in the line, including the 5 x 58 Gran Toro and the 5 1/2 x 54 Toro. The cigar’s filler is an interesting blend of tobaccos from Brazil, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic. Its binder is Brazilian, and an Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper finishes it all off. The Merlion is listed as being medium-bodied in strength.
