The black band sets this cigar apart from any of the ordinary RyJ's. Even the "Tabacalera" lower band is set against black, making you think you're in for the unexpected if used to the standard RyJ line. One of the advantages of gathering all the separate reviews and summarizing them to the website is being able to add your two cents about a cigar. I don't find myself straying greatly from most reviews and generally keep my mouth shut. I may change that here...so as a forewarning, keep my bias in mind as you read this! First note: We have never seen these for sale as singles. They are sold in a commemorative 125th Anniversary humidor from Romeo y Julieta. No matter what you think of the cigar, if you buy them, don't plan on getting much use out of the humidor. It's black lacquer finish is beautiful, and the artwork is worthy of display...but that's about it. It won't function very well as a humidor, as once you put any sort of humidification device inside, there will not be much room for cigars. The black band sets this cigar apart from any of the ordinary RyJ's. Even the "Tabacalera" lower band is set against black, making you think you're in for the unexpected if used to the standard RyJ line. Of our five reviewers, only one gave this cigar a grade lower than a B+ on any of the aspects we rate, appearance, quality & construction, aroma, taste, aftertaste, and overall smoking experience. Keep in mind, we don't take ourselves very seriously, and ask that you do the same. That said, one very low review kept this cigar from getting an "A" rating...not an "A-" but a darn solid "A"! That would put this limited edition, "almost an afterthought" of a cigar in some pretty solid company. Enough blabbering, we're glad we gave this a shot! Rich and regal, light it up and get ready for a heady smoke. The wrapper is rich deep brown, with an almost perfectly contrasting silky gray ash. Presentation from box to cigar to burn are all fantastic. In fact this month may have had some of the best looking cigars we have reviewed. The flavor is a solid semi-strong. One reviewer likened the flavor to an Opus X without the edge. Whatever it is, it hangs on the strong side of center, and is not a breakfast cigar. We hate to publish reviews of cigars that you may not be able to find, but since these aren't one of your "Gucci" brands, they may show up. As I said earlier, I really liked this cigar, and one reviewer really brought down what looked to be an All Star cigar. Everyone has a right to their opinion, and he had his reasons. (stronger than he liked) If you decide to cast your opinion on this cigar, there is a good chance you'll be liking it. Vital Statistics: Shape = Churchill Length = RG = Wrapper = Filler = Binder = Estimated Cost =$200 for humidor & box of 25.
