As for the Habana Reserve’s flavor, I wouldn’t call it an extremely complex cigar, but I do enjoy what’s there.  The first third starts off with earth, sweetness, and some mild spice.  Just as promised, the strength of the spice does pick up in the second third, bringing the strength from medium to full-bodied.  It still manages to remain smooth, however, with sweet and spicy notes interchanging.  The final third features more spice, as well as some leather and earth.

Was the Romeo y Julieta Habana Reserve as “strong” as advertised?  Not totally, but I don’t think they were had a powerhouse in mind when putting this cigar together.  It does have just enough strength, however, and it’s an all-around quality smoke.  At about $6 per single, you are getting your money’s worth.  You can also find it in packs of five or boxes of 27.  Give at least one a try if you are a Romeo y Julieta follower or looking for something full-bodied yet smooth.

The Romeo y Julieta Habana Reserve Robusto earns a rating of 3.5 out of four stars.

Sencillo Platinum Double Robusto

The Sencillo Platinum is a line from God of Fire that’s credited to Christian Eiroa, who formerly worked for Camacho cigars.  Sencillo is Spanish for simple, which makes sense since “simple pleasure” is said to be the whole inspiration behind the brand.  The Platinum was created as an everyday smoke and seems to have garnered some solid ratings, so I am expecting an enjoyable smoking experience with this Double Robusto that I am about to light up.

The Sencillo Platinum Double Robusto measures 5 ¾ x 52.  Other sizes in the line include the 5 ¼ x 50 Robusto, 5 x 56 Robusto Gordo, 6 x 60 Platinum Gigante, and 6 1/8 x 54 Piramide.  The Platinum is a Honduran puro.  The filler, binder, and wrapper are all made up of Habano de Jamastran tobacco, but there is some Piloto Cubano tobacco thrown into the filler as well.  The Platinum’s strength is listed as medium to full-bodied.
