Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and we have a pair of cigars from today’s reviews that might be worthy of a light after you eat all your turkey. Up first is the Room101 Serie HN. On deck is the 601 Green Label Oscuro.

Room101 Serie HN 305

The Room101 Serie HN is a 2013 release that hit shelves this past June.  It’s a limited edition cigar from creator Matt Booth that follows up special releases from the brand such as the LTD, LTD Namakubi, and the Daruma.  Only 20,000 cigars from each vitola have been produced, and I was lucky enough to get my hands on a “305” for this particular review.  With that out of the way, let’s break down what this cigar has to offer.

The Room101 Serie HN 305 measures 5 x 50. Other sizes in the line include the 5 ½ x 44 213, 7 x 48 615, 6 x 60 808, and the 4 x 42 Papi Chulo. The cigar’s filler consists of a blend of Honduran and Dominican Navarette tobaccos. The binder is Brazilian Mata Fina, and a Honduran Criollo 98 wrapper completes the composition. The strength of the Serie HN is listed as medium-bodied.

The Serie HN looks good from the start. The wrapper is medium brown in color with a slight reddish tint. There’s a slight sheen of oil, as well as some medium-sized veins. The cigar feels very smooth to the touch overall. It also feels firm and lacks soft spots. The band near the head adds a menacing look to the cigar’s presentation. It features an ancient-looking mask with a scowl on its face.  The red and white colors stand out nicely next to the wrapper as well. I pick up a cold taste of earth, while the aroma is sweet.

The Serie HN lights with ease. The draw is superb, and there’s plenty of thick smoke to be enjoyed. The burn doesn’t require any touchups or re-lights, which is always a plus.  The ash is solid and gray in color.  Smoking time is a little over an hour.
