This is a nice medium-mild cigar that people who enjoy a lighter smoke.
Royal Jamaica Gold Robusto
· Wrapper - Nicaraguan
· Binder - Nicaraguan
· Filler - Jamaican, Honduran, Nicaraguan
· Ring Size - 52
· Length - 5"
Construction: A natural reddish brown smooth wrapper. Not veiny at all.
Light oily sheen. No soft spots. Clipped clean. A very nice looking cigar once
you get the gold sleeve and extra bands off.
Prelight: Not overpowering. A nice nutty woody scent.
Burn: Very nice even burn. Did not require a relight. The ash held
together for about 1 ½”.
Draw: This cigar had a nice draw. Very easy. An easy draw is important to
me and this stick rated high with me.
Drink: A brown or amber ale would go well with the woody taste of this
cigar.
Smoking Notes: This cigar was very consistent throughout. Hints of
leather and a slight bourbon-like taste drifted in and out. A nice medium cigar
that was rich with a lot of taste. It stayed creamy and smooth until the end. A
very good smoking experience.
Overall Impression: These cigars come with a gold sleeve and extra bands.
I don’t think this was necessary but may be done because this is a fairly new
line, replacing the older Royal Jamaica’s. Peeling off all this extra
packaging runs the risk of damaging the wrapper. This was a nice medium-mild to
medium smoke that didn’t bite and finished well. I bought a few at the local
tobacco shop. All have been the same consistency.
