We’ve got a couple of cigars from boutique brands that will be the focus of today’s reviews, beginning with the SWAG S Maduro and ending with the Rodrigo La Fortaleza.

SWAG S Maduro Spin

SWAG is a brand that falls under the Boutique Blends umbrella, the same company that produces Aging Room cigars.  The S Maduro line is the latest addition to the brand that does its best to attract younger smokers to the hobby with its modern presentation and large vitolas.  I’ve tried SWAG cigars in the past and have enjoyed them, so I’m hoping the S Maduro can provide the same type of smoking experience.  Will it?  It’s time to light one up and find out…

I decided to go with the Spin format for this review, which measures 5.5 x 57.  Other sizes in the line include the 6 x 54 Infamous, 6l5 x 60 Ego Grande, 7.875 x 63 Carter, and the 7 x 70 The Bawse.  As you can see by some of those sizes, SWAG really loves big ring gauges.  The cigar’s composition begins with a filler and binder made of Dominican tobacco.  A San Andres Maduro Claro wrapper tops things off.  The strength of the S Maduro Spin is listed as being medium to full-bodied.

The SWAG S Maduro Spin is a good looking cigar.  I should add, a fat, beefy cigar.  I really like its decorative band that displays the SWAG logo in the center.  The white, red, and gold colors in the band look nice against the dark-brown wrapper.  I notice plenty of oil on the surface.  There are a few prominent veins here and there, as well as a pigtail cap.  The Spin feels firm to the touch, and construction seems solid overall.  Prior to lighting, I pick up an aroma of coffee.  The cold taste is chocolaty.

Once in action, the S Maduro Spin burns like a charm.  The draw is good and the cigar produces plenty of thick smoke.  Only a couple of small touch-ups are needed.  Re-lights are not necessary.  The light colored ash is firm and hangs for well over an inch.  Smoking time is right around 90 minutes total.
