In terms of flavors, the Tarazona Classic is a winner. There is plenty of complexity that makes the entire smoking experience enjoyable throughout the 75 minutes it took to complete. Leather and pepper are the first flavors that are noticeable, and there’s some cedar as well. The second third stays consistent with cedar, pepper, and leather, and also introduces some nuts.  The final third is a mix of sweetness, leather, grass, and nuts.

In all aspects, the Tarazona Classic is solid. It looks good, is well-built, burns nicely, and has a great bouquet of flavors. Priced at $6 to $7 per single, I can’t complain about the Classic’s value.  It’s a solid choice for beginners or experienced smokers looking for a well-rounded smoke. And if you’re fond of pit bulls, you’ll enjoy the tidbit about the owner donating proceeds from each box’s sale towards pit bull rescue.

The Tarazona Classic earns a rating of 3.5 out of four stars.

La Aurora 107 Maduro Robusto

La Aurora released their 107 line in 2010 to commemorate the company’s 107th anniversary.  While that line was a hit, their 107 Maduro line, which was also introduced in the same year, was a bit of a mystery.  Its distribution was delayed for a variety of reasons, and it finally made its way back onto shelves earlier this year.

The Robusto vitola of the 107 Maduro line measures 4 ½ x 50.  Other sizes include the 5 ½ x 42 Corona, 5 ½ x 54 Toro, and the 6 ¼ x 52 Belicoso. The cigar's filler is made up of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos.  The binder is Dominican Corojo, and the wrapper is Connecticut Broadleaf. Strength-wise, this stick is said to fall in between the medium and full-bodied categories.

This cigar has become my favorite maduro at its price point. Just a nice, flavor filled, solid smoke from a company that knows how.
