The Danno 2012 is an attractive cigar is decorated by two bands. The band at the foot displays the Danno 2012 name, while the band near the head showcases the Nestor Miranda signature and Special Selection label. The bold colors of the bands and their bronze-like accents add a nice touch to the cigar’s overall look. The dark brown wrapper features some oil and feels smooth. Only minor veins are visible. The pigtail cap is elegantly done. I feel zero soft spots as I give the cigar a squeeze. The cold taste is sweet, while the Danno 2012 sports a pre-light aroma of chocolate that is very inviting.
After striking the Nestor Miranda Danno 2012 with my lighter, the cigar offers up a good draw and a decent amount of smoke. A few occasional touch-ups are needed to correct the burn, but that is about it in the maintenance department. The gray ash is solid.
If there is one thing that I can say about the Danno 2012, it is that it’s a complex and flavorful cigar. The first third is by far my favorite part of the smoking experience, as it supplies notes of spice, sweetness, nuts, and chocolate. The second third brings pepper to the forefront, and this is where the cigar’s power is put on display. Wood, chocolate, and sweetness interchange with the pepper until the final third. The Danno 2012 finishes off with a blend of coffee, nuts, and creaminess.
There’s no doubt about it – the Nestor Miranda Danno 2012 is a superb cigar. Its complexity was a real treat, and it had just enough strength as well. The Danno 2012 would be a great choice as an after dinner cigar, but I could see it as something to smoke on a relaxing afternoon too. A single hovers in the $9 range, and you can also find it in packs of five or boxes of 20. I would at least spring for a pack of five before the limited edition cigar runs out.
The Nestor Miranda Danno 2012 earns a rating of four out of four stars.
