The Iconic Leaf Recluse is certainly an attractive cigar. The box-pressed shape is about as perfect as you could expect, and the oily chocolate brown wrapper looks fantastic. There’s a nice mottled look to the Toro and only a few small veins are noticeable. The cigar feels firm to the touch and I detect a sweet cold taste. The pre-light aroma is of earthy. Two bands spruce up the appearance with their silver and black color schemes. The top band showcases the Recluse name with a depiction of a spider, while the second band displays the Iconic label.
Iconic Leaf promises a great smoke with the Recluse due to all the work put into its construction, and they deliver. The draw is excellent and the smoke is thick and plentiful. The cigar’s ash is solid. There is no need for any touch-ups or re-lights during the entire smoking experience.
Moving on to the Recluse Toro’s flavor, it begins with chocolate and leather. These two flavors dominate the first third. The second third continues with the chocolate notes, and I also begin to detect some mild spice and nuts. The final third is sweet and nutty. The cigar isn’t too complex, but it is smooth and enjoyable.
Well, I have to say that for my first run with the Iconic Leaf cigar company, I enjoyed the Recluse Toro. I wouldn’t call it the most complex cigar in the world, but it did offer great construction and smoothness. The Toro costs around $8 per single, and you can also find it in packs of five or boxes of 24. Pick some up if you enjoy smooth cigars.
The Iconic Leaf Recluse Toro earns a rating of 3.5 out of four stars.
