As I look at the Trinidad Reserve Belicoso, I first notice its attractive shape. The cap seems to be done to perfection, and there’s a good amount of oil on the dark brown wrapper. Some medium veins are present. The gold, black, and white band displays the Trinidad name along with various Ts bunched in threes. The cigar is firm to the touch and has zero soft spots. Its pre-light aroma is sweet, while the cold taste is spicy.
After lighting with Trinidad Reserve Belicoso with ease, the cigar burns well. There are no touch-ups or re-lights needed, and the draw is just right. The ash is light gray and solid. Smoking time is just over an hour.
In terms of the Trinidad Reserve Belicoso’s flavor, I can’t really call it complex. It is peppery as advertised, however. The first third is all pepper and sweetness. The pepper picks up in strength in the second third, where it combines with wood. The final third is a trio of wood, pepper, and sweetness. It’s full-bodied all the way, but not too full-flavored.
I can’t really complain about the Trinidad Reserve Belicoso, but I also can’t say that it blew me over. It’s a solid cigar, but that is about it. I’d recommend it to smokers who like spicy, peppery cigars. Don’t expect a lot of complexity though. You can find the Reserve Belicoso for around $5 each, and it also comes in boxes of 20.
The Trinidad Reserve Belicoso earns a rating of 3.25 out of four stars.
