The 5 Vegas Relic
The 5 Vegas Relic is a full-bodied Dominican Puro. It only comes in one vitola: the 5.7x54 Perfecto. Its filler is a blend of Dominican Criollo and Corojo tobacco mixed in with just one leaf of 12-year old Dominican Piloto tobacco that is added to smooth out the flavor. It also has a Dominican Piloto binder and a Dominican Corojo wrapper.
In simple terms, the 5 Vegas Relic looks like a beast. It looks like something you’d find in an ancient Central American tomb. Perhaps it was given that appearance to match its name, as it has an aged look. The cigar itself is dark and toothy, and has a very oily sheen when placed under light. There are several large veins that are visible, and it has a lumpy feel to it. The large bronze and gold band near the head matches the cigar’s ancient look, and has the 5 Vegas logo and Relic stamped on it in red. Before I light it I notice that the cigar has an earthy scent and cold taste.
The cigar’s burn was less than great. It was uneven and also required relighting at times. The ash was solid and dark gray in color and the draw was good. As far as the flavors go, they were not bad but nothing to get excited about. The cigar started out with some earth and coffee and later got some hints of sweetness. A decent amount of pepper showed up as well.
Overall, the 5 Star Vegas Relic was average at best. Its appearance was intriguing and maybe even intimidating, but once it was lit it didn’t really live up to its looks. The burn had some problems and the flavors were on the simple side. The price is not bad, as you can get a single for around $5. The cigar also comes in packs of 5 or boxes of 24. If you do want to try one you might get better results, and the monetary risk isn’t that high. The 5 Star Vegas Relic Perfecto gets an average rating of 2.5 out of 4 stars.
