The Viaje 5th Anniversary’s flavor begins with a first third that is characterized by spicy pepper and wood.  It is a pretty bold introduction, but it’s not too overpowering.  The pepper continues in the second third and mixes with sweet and grassy flavors.  The final third is a mix of sweetness, chocolate, and cedar.

There is no doubt that the Viaje 5th Anniversary is a solid cigar.  It burns fairly well and has some decently complexity along with strength.  It’s a good choice if you are an experienced smoker who enjoys Nicaraguan puros.  It’s also worth trying if you are a follower of the Viaje brand.  The cigar’s limited nature does make it pricey at around $13 per single.  You can also find it in boxes of 25.

Asylum Torpedo

The Asylum Torpedo is the second cigar from the brand that I have had the pleasure of sampling this month.  I originally tried the Asylum 13, and found it to be quite enjoyable with its full-bodied strength and full flavor.  The Asylum Torpedo is one of three lines from the relatively new brand.  The other two are the aforementioned 13 and the Schizo.  Will the Torpedo give the same pleasurable smoking experience as the 13 did?  I can only hope that it will.

The Asylum Torpedo measures 5 x 54.  The cigar is a Nicaraguan puro featuring a filler, binder, and wrapper all made of tobaccos from the fertile Central American nation.  It’s produced in Honduras at the Tabacos Rancho Jamastran factory and is said to be full-bodied in strength.
