The first thing I notice about the American Classic Blend's appearance is the decorative band. Plenty of thought and detail was put into its design, and it does a great job of portraying the entire American theme behind the cigar. Alec Bradley gets an A plus in this regard. The cigar itself sports a golden wrapper with some oil and very few veins. There are no soft spots, and the construction appears to be superb. Before lighting, there's a sweet cold taste and an aroma of cedar.
The cigar's good looks translates to a solid burn. The draw is as good as one could expect, and plenty of thick smoke comes through. The white ash is very long and firm. Only one touch-up is needed. I love smokes that are basically maintenance-free, and this appears to be one of them.
If I had to describe the flavor profile of the American Classic Blend Toro in one word, it would be smooth. That does not mean it is completely lacking in complexity, however. The cigar begins with sweet notes and cedar. Later on, nuts and creaminess show up. The final third gets a bit bolder with cinnamon and chocolate. This seems to be a smoke that would pair nicely with a cup of coffee.
There are really no complaints when it comes to the Alec Bradley American Classic Blend. I loved the theme and look of the cigar. It's construction was excellent, and the flavors were very enjoyable. I'd recommend the cigar for beginners or anyone seeking a solid stogie for early in the day. The Classic Blend's best attribute could be its price. At $4 to $5 per single, it appears to be a steal. You can also find it in packs of five or boxes of 20. Go ahead and pick up a box. I doubt you will regret it.
The Alec Bradley American Classic Blend Toro earns a rating of 3.75 out of four stars.
