The look of the Padilla Reserva Maduro Toro is highlighted by its two decorative bands. The band nearest the head is large and features the Padilla name and the head of a male lion. The band beneath it features the Padilla Reserva Maduro label. Both bands are mostly red and gold in color and stand out against the dark brown wrapper. There’s a good amount of oil present and some medium veining. The Toro feels firm to the touch with no soft spots at all. Before lighting I detect an aroma that features a mix of coffee and spice. The cold taste is earthy.
After I light the Reserva Maduro Toro with ease the cigar burns well. The draw is excellent and I get a ton of smoke. The burn is even throughout and only needs one minor touch-up. The gray ash is solid. Smoking time for the Toro is just about 75 minutes.
The Reserva Maduro Toro has passed the test in all departments so far, and it continues that positive impression with its flavor. The first third kicks off with some pepper that blends with wood and coffee. The pepper and coffee continue into the second third. I also notice sweetness and dark chocolate at this point. The final third is a mix of sweetness, dark chocolate, and coffee. Strength is medium to full-bodied, just as advertised.
The Padilla Reserva Maduro Toro is another solid offering from the brand. The cigar had a nice mix of flavors and excellent construction. At around $8 per single, I’d call it fairly priced for the quality you get in return. You can also find the Reserva Maduro in packs of five or boxes of 20.
The Padilla Reserva Maduro Toro earns a rating of 3.75 out of four stars.
