The flavor department is where the Platino Lancero seems to disappoint. It's not bad, but it is not exactly captivating either. The cigar begins with some mild spice, and that appears to be the theme of the first third. The second third is filled with notes of coffee and some leather. The final third offers up some cedar. There's not too much complexity to be enjoyed, but the cigar is smooth.
Is the Viaje Platino Lancero worthy of a purchase? That depends. The cigar isn't exactly cheap at around $8 to $9 per single, and it comes in boxes of 30 or packs of five. It is a quality cigar, but it didn't excite me enough that I would pay such a price tag for it in the future. There just was not enough in the flavor department to make it memorable. It did have excellent construction, however. It's mild enough for beginners, and anyone looking for a smooth cigar might want to give it a try. If you are looking for a cigar that is full of flavor, you may be disappointed here.
The Viaje Platino Lancero earns a rating of three out of four stars.
Punch Rare Corojo 10th Anniversary Robusto

The Punch Rare Corojo 10th Anniversary is a new release that General Cigar introduced at the end of last month. This latest edition of the Rare Corojo line is said to be very limited in supply, so I feel fortunate to have the chance to try it out. It's also supposed to offer a bit of a different taste when compared to other Rare Corojo releases.
The Robusto version of the Rare Corojo 10th Anniversary measures 5 x 50, and it is the only size in the line. The cigar has a filler composed of tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Its binder is Connecticut Broadleaf. The cigar is finished off by a proprietary Connecticut Corojo wrapper that is said to be the highlight of the composition. Strength-wise, the 10th Anniversary is said to fall into category of medium to full-bodied.
