Flor de Ybor City and Ybor Gold Broadway from La Estampa

While you may have not heard of the La Estampa brand name, you probably have heard of cigars from Arturo Fuente. La Estampa Cigar Company is actually the creation of two people from the younger generation of the historic Fuente family. The company was founded in the Ybor City region of Tampa, Florida by Arturo O. Fuente, Jr., and his daughter, Kristin. Obviously, being born into a family with a rich tradition in the tobacco industry helped form their desires to create their own.

To help further their young brand, the younger Fuentes have announced the upcoming releases of two lines: the Flor de Ybor City and the Ybor Gold Broadway Series. While the lines are new and under a different company, they still hold true to some of the older, more traditional Fuente cigars in terms of composition. Both lines are handmade in the Dominican Republic at the Tabacalera A. Fuente factories as well.

The Flor de Ybor City line is not completely new, if you want to get technical. It was actually first introduced in the 1970's, but has now been revived via La Estampa. The line comes in a whopping twelve different sizes made to suit different tastes. You also get three different wrappers to choose from: a smooth Connecticut Shade, a rich Maduro, or a spicier Ecuadorian Sun Grown. The variety of choices within the line make it optimal for different types of cigar fans, from novice to aficionado. Some of the sizes within the line come in packs of 10, while all sizes will be made available in bundles of 20. Depending on the size, expect to pay anywhere from $2 to about $4 per single, on average.

The Ybor Gold Broadway Series is named after old Ybor City's 7th Avenue which was affectionately referred to as “Broadway” during the old times. The line will be offered in five different sizes: the Gran Ybor, the Lector, the Cuban Club, the Bolita, and the Carrito 413. Each of the names were selected to represent one aspect that characterized Ybor City's Golden Years. Each of the five sizes will come in cedar boxes of 20, while the Gran Ybor will also come in a sampler of five cigars. Keep an eye out for this new premium line from La Estampa in the near future.

Padron Family Reserve No. 46

Padron Cigars has vowed to release a new cigar each year until they hit the company's 50th Anniversary. While last year's Family Reserve No. 45 was a huge hit, Padron hopes that its new No. 46 edition will be even better. The No. 46 will commemorate 46 years of business for the brand, and they have just a few more years until they hit the magic number of 50.

The production of the No. 46 was done with extreme detail, as over 1,000 cigars were smoked to get the new blend up to snuff. The No. 46 will be composed of some of the company's most vintage tobaccos and will measure 5 1/2x 56. Production of the cigar takes place at the Tabacos Cubanica Factory in Esteli, Nicaragua. Although pricing has not been officially released, one might use the No. 45's price of approximately $25 per single as an advanced indicator of cost. The Family Reserve No. 46 will be made available to the public on September 8, 46 years to the day of the company's birth.
