The Second Growth comes in only one size: 7 7/8x 54. Its production is extremely limited, at only 1,000 boxes available worldwide, with 300 of those allocated to the United States. Each box holds 20 cigars. Due to its limited quantity and quality of ingredients, each cigar retails at the high price of approximately $32. Those who like to keep their cigar boxes as souvenirs will want to get their hands on one from Second Growth, as each is made from used wine barrels that were purchased in Saint Julien, France.
These rare cigars sound quite intriguing, so give one a shot before they are out of stock. Despite their high price, if they receive high ratings from around the cigar community, you can bet they will be gone soon, especially when you consider that only 300 boxes are up for grabs in the United States.
La Palina Brand

Some say that a good thing never dies, and such could be said about La Palina Cigars. In La Palina's case, you could say that the brand took a long rest, but is now experiencing a revival.
La Palina was a brand that officially began in 1896 and was produced by Congress Cigar Company. Congress Cigar Co. was founded by Samuel Paley, and lasted until 1926. Paley's grandson, Bill, has decided to bring the brand back to life with the new edition of La Palina. As a side note, if the Paley name sounds familiar, Bill's father, William S. Paley, is the founder of the CBS network.
The new La Palina is produced in the mold of the original, although with different ingredients, as the original used Cuban tobacco. The La Palina revival features two lines: the Limited Edition 1896 Robusto and the Family Series. Both have filler blends of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos and a Costa Rican binder. Each is capped of with an Ecuadorian wrapper. The 1896 cigar comes in one size, while the Family Series is offered in four sizes, each named for members of the Paley family. Smokers who enjoy medium-bodied cigars should find both of these La Palina lines suitable for their tastes.
Stay tuned for more new releases to come in part 2 of this Puff series for July.
