Gran Habano Azteca

The father and son team of Don Guillermo and George Rico have a new line to present from Gran Habano: the Azteca. The Azteca was created with full flavor in mind. According to Don Guillermo's son, George, many smokers have a misconception when it comes to cigars that are labeled as full-bodied, with the notion that they have more flavor. George said that full-bodied spoke more of a cigar's strength, as many full-bodied sticks often lack a variety of flavors. With the Azteca line, Gran Habano aims to show that a cigar can be smooth, lack the full-bodied moniker, and still be flavorful. To show this dedication, Gran Habano has attached the slogan of “Rediscovery of Full Flavor” to the line.
The Azteca is actually the first Maduro cigar from Gran Habano. Its Azteca name fits, as the cigar has core components that come from Mexico, which is the land of the Aztecs. The Azteca is aged, and has a filler blend of tobaccos from Panama and Nicaragua. The binder and filler are both composed of Mexican San Andres Maduro tobacco, which in essence makes this a double Maduro cigar.
There are three different Azteca sizes to choose from, which all bear names of animals associated with the Aztec tribe: the 5 1/2x 52 Aguila (Eagle in English), the 6 x 54 Jaguar, and the 6 x 60 Puma. Expect to pay around $6 to $7 per single, depending on the vitola you choose. This is one release that sounds intriguing, especially if you love cigars packed with flavor. It should be interesting if Gran Habano is successful in their quest of the “Rediscovery of Full Flavor.”
