Cigars for Dogs? Say it Ain't So!

Nothing beats a lazy Sunday afternoon on the back porch when you are smoking your favorite cigar. What about your little pal, Rover? Do you not think his mouth is drooling as he sees you light up a stogie? Why not give him one too, so you can share the experience together? One company has answered this call in the past, and now distribution is going to expand too.
The company, Flora & Hurd, Inc., produced cigars intended for dogs, called Chewgars, beginning in 2003. They aren't new in terms of their release date, but they may be new to you. Considering just how much of a niche market such a product fell into, the distribution was a bit scarce, or better yet, somewhat unknown to many. Arango Cigar Co. has now exclusively taken over the distribution duties of Chewgars, and dog lovers can expect to see them on a wider scale. Arango likely took over the sole distribution rights due to the niche popularity of Chewgars in the past.
The Chewgars themselves are handmade and come in a 6 x 60 size. They are made of rawhide, and you will not have to worry about them being harmful to your dog, as they are also pesticide-free. Three dog-favorite flavors are available: chicken, beef, and liver. Chewgars even come complete with their own decorative band which shows a dog enjoying a cigar. You can pick up a single for around $2.50, and they also come in boxes of 20. They aren't exactly cheap, but your dog deserves a special treat every now and then. Just think of all the great photo opportunities that would present themselves when you and your dog are enjoying a cigar together!
Be on the lookout for the next edition of June's 2010 new releases. Until then, go out and pick up some of the ones we discussed today, including a Chewgar for your dog!
