La Aurora Serie 107 Aniversario

laaurora107

It seems a bit rare that a brand would commemorate its 107th anniversary. After all, what type of significance does the number 107 have? It's not a nice round number like 100, or 50, or even 25. With that in mind, what makes it so special for Aurora? The answer really does not have much to do with any number, but rather an attempt by the brand to gain some recognition in the cigar world.

The release of the La Aurora 107 Aniversario celebrates 107 years of being in business since the company was started in 1903. The reason they decided to release such a cigar right now was to break into the hearts, minds, and eventually mouths of many cigar fans who have not yet given their cigars a try. Over time, La Aurora built a bit of a reputation as a cigar maker of milder sticks. To broaden their scope and gain some market share, they have recently started making more cigars that fall into the medium to full-bodied range. By introducing a special cigar and promoting it heavily, La Aurora feels they will be able to gain some new customers.

To help promote the cigar, La Aurora is using the number 107 as the center of its campaign. The cigar will be made available in exactly 107 retail locations. Pushing this idea a bit further, on April 30, La Aurora gave each of its 107 locations exactly 107 of the special anniversary cigars to give away for free to customers. This seems like a pretty clever idea, and by giving away free cigars with no risk to the customer, they will likely gain in popularity.

The actual cigar itself has a filler blend of aged tobaccos from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The binder is aged Nicaraguan tobacco too, and the wrapper is of the Ecuadorian Sun Grown variety. The cigar will be available in boxes of 21 and three sizes: Robusto, Toro, and Belicoso.

If you want to pick one of these special sticks up, you will have to do it at a participating retail store, as the cigar will not be made available online or via mail. Expect to pay around $7 for a single.

That finishes today's new releases. Hopefully you enjoyed reading about them, and are inspired to pick some up. Stay tuned for more new releases coming soon...
