newcig10 If you have been looking for some new suggestions on how to fill your humidor, look no further. Today we have several recent and upcoming releases to discuss from such brands as AVO, La Aroma de Cuba, Alec Bradley, and Oliva. We will also discuss one new brand from a winemaker trying his hand in the cigar business.

Schrader Hispaniola Cigars

Cigars and wine are two luxuries in life that go together well. Although California winemaker Frederick Schrader had previously only had experience in the wine industry, he decided to venture out into the world of cigars with his Hispaniola brand. Schrader's wines had experienced some success and received high praise from critics, so he wanted a way to celebrate, but with his own cigars.

Schrader enlisted the help of Tatuaje's Pete Johnson and Havana Cellars with the distribution of the new brand. Since Johnson is a self-proclaimed fan of wine, he agreed to the partnership after deciding that Schrader's product was one worth delving into.

For those who are wondering, the Hispaniola brand is not a wine-flavored cigar, despite Schrader's main affiliation with that industry. The cigar's Dominican filler is composed of a blend of Havana Vuelta Arriba Ligero, Criollo '98, and Corojo Ligero 2001 tobaccos. The binder is Dominican Criollo '98, and the wrapper is a Honduran Colorado Habano 2001 that was rolled in 2009. As of right now, only one Hispaniola size is planned: the 7 ½ x 56 Doco-Est MMIX-I. This particular size resembles the Salomon shape which features tapered ends.

The Hispaniola Doco-Est MMIX-I is set to be released sometime this fall. It is a limited edition release with production topping out at 1,150 boxes of ten. If you want to get your hands on this new venture from Schrader, you will have to pay up, as the Doco-Est MMIX-I retails for $26.95 each.
