Sencillo Gigante

The Sencillo brand of Honduran puros has expanded from its original four sizes by adding a fifth: the Gigante. Gigante is the Spanish term for giant, and this stogie lives up to that moniker by measuring 6 x 60. The Sencillo brand was developed by Camacho Cigars' Christian Eiroa for its founder, Keith K. Park. Park is also credited with founding other lines, such as Prometheus, God of Fire, and Angelenos. Park wanted to create a cigar that was meant to be enjoyed slowly and savored, as a tribute to the simpler things in life. As such, he came up with the Sencillo name, which translates to simple in English.

As stated, all Sencillo cigars are Honduran puros that are considered to be medium to full-bodied. The filler is a blend of Piloto Cubano and Habano de Jamastran tobacco. The binder and wrapper are both composed of Habano de Jamastran tobacco as well. Spice and leather notes highlight each smoke. Each Sencillo is handmade by Tabaco Rancho Jamastran in Danli, Honduras.

The Gigante comes in boxes of 25, and has a retail price of $8.95 per single. Other sizes available under the Sencillo name include the 5 1/4x 50 Robusto, the 5 3/4x 52 Double Robusto, the 6 1/4x 48 Short Churchill, and the 6 1/8x 54 Piramide.

Camacho Liberty 2010

camacho2010

To continue its annual tradition that has gone strong for many years, Camacho has released its Liberty 2010 cigar. The Liberty 2010 is the ninth such edition from Camacho, and it was created as a tribute to the United States.

This full-bodied smoke comes measures 6 x 54 and varies slightly from other Liberty releases in terms of its composition. The filler blend is a combination of Honduran Corojo Ligero and Dominican tobaccos. The binder is Honduran as well, and it has an Ecuadorian Sumatra Seed wrapper.

As with other Liberty releases, the 2010 edition will be made available on a limited basis. Only 2,000 boxes will be produced, with each box containing 20 cigars. Packaging is quite elegant, with each cigar coming in its own small coffin. Pricing for each Liberty 2010 is high, with a single retailing for just over $16.
