Cigar Lover Miguel Angel Jimenez Wins European Tour

48-year-old Spanish golfer Miguel Angel Jimenez recently became the oldest winner in European Tour history, and he celebrated with a cigar as he gave the secrets to his success.

“Maybe this is the olive oil in my joints, the good Rioja wine and those things,” he told the press. “Keep yourself fit and flexible. The most important thing is to enjoy what you are doing in life. I've been a 19-time winner now. I'm 48... my goodness.

“It's 24 years now that I've been around (the tour), it'll be 25 next year. But I still love it. I think that's the key. Love what you are doing and enjoy yourself.

“I keep fit and keep working myself a little bit. I stretch a lot. You need to keep your body (in shape) to compete with the young guns.”

Cigars, wine and enjoying yourself sounds like a recipe for success—and life in general.

The Nostalgia Shop is Still Smokin’ After 40 Years

When the Nostalgia Shop opened in Columbia, MO, over 40 years ago, the store specialized in rarities and antiques, but these days, customers flock there to shop for fine cigars and spirits. Owner George Liggett can still be found there, managing the store and his restaurant next door, Grand Cru.

The store originally opened in 1968 as an antique emporium, but over the years, Liggett and his partner began adding fine wines and cigars to their inventory. By the 1980s, they were ready to add a built-in humidor to the shop.

By the time the 1990s rolled around, they were primed to take advantage of the growing interest in fine cigars, and other merchandise was sold off to make more room for premium cigars.

Liggett recalled to the Columbia Tribune, “That was the first time in our career we were in the right place at the right time with the right product. Premium cigars were at a premium. All of a sudden, people wanted to smoke a hand-rolled cigar. And we were sitting on a lot of 'em.”

Now Liggett still makes it into the shop every day, despite health problems that force him to walk with a cane. He’s looking for help, and makes the job sound very appealing. “Someone will come along," Liggett said. "Every college kid in the world wants a job like this.”

The Nostalgia Shop is located at 2600 S. Providence Road in Columbia, MO.
