PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- New neighbors are coming to the former Armstrong Cork
Factory site in the Strip District.
The Cork Factory Lofts already has residential tenants in its rental properties
there, and now they are announcing two new businesses will open in Spring 2008.
A wine and cigar Bar and a specialty grocery store will be the first retail
tenants on the revitalized property.
The former Armstrong Cork Factory sits on 3.5 acres of land and had been
abandoned for over 30 years.
In 1996 Charles Hammel III, president of Pitt-Ohio Express, and Bob Beynon of
Beynon and Company purchased the land.
In 2005 they partnered with McCaffery Interests to renovate the property and
take full advantage of its location.
